My Review:

Wild Card (Advantage Play, #1)Wild Card by Kelsie Rae
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow! Just wow. Wild Card is such a different read than the rest of Kelsie’s backlist and I FLOVED IT! She took a risk and it paid off in spades, really showcasing the depths of her writing abilities. I was sucked into the seedy world of mob-owned casinos, but was swept up in the pair of story lines that were spun together so uniquely that I couldn’t wait to get more of Ace and Kingston.

Ace was such a chameleon, truly becoming each persona she was portraying but also keeping her rules to ground her in the moment, and keep her focused on her main goal, revenge. When Kingston catches her, he draws her deeper into the darker side of the gambling world, while also opening her mind to the sensual connection between them. Kingston, being thrown into his new role as head of his mob family, is torn between his wants and needs, and when push comes to shove, will he learn to play the game as well as Ace?

The slow-burn of passion between the two has me clambering for the next book, Dark King, which can’t come fast enough for me. So many questions to be answered!

*Warning: There is a cliffhanger, so if that isn’t your thing, definitely want to wait till you can get your hands on Dark King. But don’t wait too long, cause Wild Card is definitely worth it!

Rule #1: Keep your head down and your eyes up. It makes you invisible. But not stupid.

Ace, a young cardshark, has worked her entire life to achieve one goal. Bring Burlone Allegretti to his knees. As the the head of a mafia family who dabbles in human trafficking, he’s far from innocent, and Ace can’t wait to exact her revenge.

As her plan is set in motion, the alluring head of a rival family, Kingston Romano, approaches her with a proposition. One that she’s desperate enough to accept.

Soon, she finds herself in the crosshairs of a war she isn’t prepared to fight. With a target on her back, and intimate feelings she refuses to acknowledge, she’ll have to decide if she’s all in, or if she’ll be taken for all she’s worth.

About the Author

Kelsie is a sucker for a love story with all the feels and enjoys a solid chick flick, too. When she’s not chasing words for her next book, you will probably find her reading or, more likely, playing with her three small children who love to drive her crazy. She adores chocolate, photography, and baking. And now that she’s actively pursuing her writing dreams, she’s set her sights on someday finding the self-discipline to not eat an entire batch of cookies in one sitting.
