Our planet has hope.
Still decaying and barely inhabitable, but ours.
With the arrival of the females, we’re no longer lonely.

Well, some of us aren’t.

For the rest, we ache for what they have.
Peace. Happiness. Love.
But where the other unmatched Morts want a mate to call their own, I’m different.

Life cruelly made me fall for the one person I’m not allowed to have.
Bitterness and jealousy are my mates now.
I’ve resigned myself to the fact that I will always be alone.

Until my commander sends me on a mission to rescue someone very important to his mate—her sister.
A woman so different. So imperfect. So maddeningly defiant. Someone I have no interest in whatsoever.

This feral female will never own my heart.
Or so I thought.
Love always has a plan of its own.

My Review:

The Lonely Orphan (Lost Planet #5)The Lonely Orphan by K. Webster
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

As soon as I opened this read, I was instantly back in Mortuus with my favorite Morts. Not going to lie… I kind of LOVE this series, and this world that K and Nicole have created. From the dynamics of each character to the details in which they create this world, it’s incredible. Each book added to the series is like another layer of intrigue and insight of what it is to be a Mort. Throw in the complexities of each character, and when you sit down to read you get a WHOLE ‘nother perspective. Especially in the case of Hadrian and Lyric.

Stuck on the one person he can’t have, Hadrian is set in believing there is no one else out there for him. He takes off on a mission that will forever change his view on his own life. Finally having to grow up and become the leader he was meant to be while convincing a skeptical Lyric that he isn’t the monster she thinks he is. I loved getting Hadrian’s story cause it was almost like a coming of age/leadership read. He was always the funny, spontaneous, and headstrong character, so having him really come into his own in this was just what I wanted. Plus the give and take with Lyric was THE BEST!

Lyric, the group nominated leader of the overrun prison, will do everything and anything to get to her sister. When Hadrian comes crashing into her world, she must learn to go against the majority and trust the “monster”. The sweet passion between these two is just that. Sweet, almost innocent like, however there is definitely still the intense need as well. The way they both learn to lead and lean on one will have you cheering them on from your curled up reading spot.

Once again, K and Nicole have transported me back to a world that I never want to come back from. I am literally counting the days till I see the teasers for the next one in this series. Be sure you start from the beginning of this series, and catch up fast as you will want Hadrian and Lyric in your life.
